{Fabric Friday} Owls & Nests...

In my studio I have a stack of square, screen-printed pieces of fabric that are waiting for that perfect project. While I've had many ideas for how to use them, time is tricky these days. I've been nothing short of impressed with recent klt:works collaborations & I think they may have inspired an idea. I've decided to start selling some of my owl & nest screen-printed fabric squares in the klt:work etsy shop.  These squares are perfect for quilts, clothing, pillows, framing, you name it!  I really love seeing what people create so I thought it would be fun to start a flickr group called "friends of klt:works" with the thought that if anyone wants to post what they make with these fabric squares, they'll have a place. Who knows, there may be a contest somewhere down the road. Happy Fabric Friday everyone! Any creative projects planned for this weekend?

{Mid-Week Inspiration} Marimekko Process...

When I cracked open my new dwell magazine, I was delighted to see an article called, "Helsinki Ink" under the PROCESS category. You know I love Marimekko, but I also love reading about everyone's creative process. This article lets you step inside Marimekko's printing factory- oh how I would love to go in person! But for now, it was a nice studio break read.

You can view the "Helsinki Ink" article here or check out the new September issue of dwell magazine pages 72-76.  It was just the little piece of mid-week inspiration that I needed to get back to work. Hope you are having a great week!

{Good Read} La Petite #5- Innovation...

Today La Petite ~ issue # 5 came out & it's all about innovation. Creating & inventing is close to my heart (as was the last issue all about the '70's) so I was really excited to sink my teeth into coming up with an idea for this "For the Love of Books" feature. I decided to focus on books that nurtured creativity & thinking outside of the box...

Of course I had my trusty assistant to help me with this task. These books are all favorites from our bookshelves so we tinkered, read & photographed them many times for the sake of research. We had a blast...

Issue #5 is 400 pages of eye candy so grab a cup of coffee, sit back & enjoy!  You can read  "For the Love of Books" on pages 154-157 & view the whole magazine live here. Thanks for including me in your beautifully cool magazine Rachelle! A job well done La Petite ladies!

{Music Monday} easy breezy summertime...

It was actually a bit on the hot side here this weekend. Saturday was not the kind of day to be sewing wool plush in the attic studio of an old house. So Sayer & I headed out for a beach break to enjoy the small breeze, saltwater air, and sand, & seaweed between our toes. It was a really one of my favorite kinds of days.

It wouldn't be Music Monday unless I shared an appropriate soundtrack for this summer feeling. You may remember the Zee Avi post I did last month - well you can check out her new album stream  here - it all feels like summer to me. Have a listen & see what you think.  Zee Avi's Ghostbird, will be released this Tuesday. This first video from the album seems like a nice way to start the week. Sort of hard to not get up & dance, isn't it?  Happy Music Monday!
