Happy Father's Day!

These two guys are peas in a pod. Being that I always seem to be the one with a camera in my hand, I have TONS of photos of the two of them. Here are some of my favorites that I took  during photo shoots for klt:works in the last year or so (except the second one that was taken right before Sayer's end of the year pre-school performance a few weeks ago). I love watching them together. Chris is a wonderful dad & you can just see the mutual adoration between the two of them. Oh, & yes - there are a tremendous amount of klt:tees in our laundry at all times - but we do own clothes that aren't klt:works too. 

But a father's day post really wouldn't be complete without a photo of me & my dad (yes, that is me - not Sayer). Not only is Sayer lucky in the father department, but so am I. My dad has always been there for me.

And now, he is best buddies with Sayer - which is also awesome to witness. So happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there! You are very much appreciated! 

{Happy Father's Day}

One of the things that I was certain about when I was pregnant with Sayer, was that my dad was going to be an awesome grandpa. I was really excited to watch their relationship grow. I think it's safe to say that Sayer will know my dad better than almost anyone as he will be able to benefit from my dad's retirement (& most likely help in the transition). My dad is a really hard worker. Having been a business owner for 40 some years, that's just a given. I attribute my work ethic & entrepreneurial spirit to him with out a doubt. Coupled with working hard, he is extremely generous. Those he cares about know this. I have always felt like he had my back... ALWAYS. I'm lucky, I know. But so is everyone that knows him. 

Sayer is also very lucky in the Father department. You can always see it in Chris' eyes when he looks at Sayer, how much that kiddo means to him. To see what their latest project together is, check out Friday's post.  

So today I want to wish all of the amazing dads out there a Happy Father's Day!  Hope you have a wonderful day! 

{Fun} club house...

Chris doesn't teach ceramics this summer quarter at the college (he'll just be at hutch studio) which means that he finally has weekends off! This last Monday & Tuesday was his first true weekend in about a year & it was spent primarily in the backyard. He & Sayer have a new project that they have been dreaming up - they are building a "club house" out of the wood from our old deck that we tore down last summer. Sayer is not lacking in the idea department. His requests include: a basement, garage, porridge shooter (like in Wallace & Gromit), bedroom, & fire pole.... oh & a red door. One of our recent outings was to a local salvage yard to find some cool windows for his house. We found 2 oval (RV or boat ) windows that were tempered & could open & shut. Sayer also found many other things... but the windows came home with us.

Sayer got right to work & brought out his tools, book about tools, & tool box. I snuck out to take photos of this project in motion many times because I absolutely couldn't resist. I can't wait to see what the two of them come up with. 

After a lot of banging of hammers, it was quiet for a bit. I came back down from my studio to see the progress & saw Sayer toting his pillow out to his club house. I guess he just needed a rest. He just kicked back & looked at the clouds for awhile. I love hearing him ask & guess what the clouds look like. Apparently we all (Chris, my mom, & I) have done that with him on several occasions. Looks like this club house is off to a great start- as of now, Kiki our kitty is the only other club member. I know Sayer is going to have fond memories of creating it with his dad for years to come.

{Happy Father's Day} A gift for the guys...

While being a mom is amazing, it is equally cool to see Chris as  a dad. I think it is a role that suits him perfectly and enhances all of the qualities that I admire most about him. He and Sayer are peas in a pod and I look forward to watching what adventures they will embark on next. To watch the way Chris looks at Sayer says it all. I love our little threesome!

When it comes to fathers... I really lucked out! Of course I knew this growing up, but it has become increasingly evident as I find my way as a parent. I have always felt like my dad had my back and that is something that is as rare as it is comforting. It has been nice living near my parents over the years and getting to know them as people too. I have learned a lot from my dad and I truly admire and appreciate all that he has done for me. The fact that Sayer gets to spend time with his grandparents and experience a little of what I did growing up, couldn't make me happier.
