{In the Studio} Polyfil & Plush

It's been a bustling studio in the last few weeks! I've never made so many thread drawing plush in such a short period of time. We've been living in a world of polyfil & boxes thanks to the KLTworks sale at Fab.com last week and I'm finally emerging from the studio & trying to catch up on life. Chris took this photo Sunday at midnight, right after we finished the last plush heading to Fab.com and I thought I would share.

{Photos} Summertime Fair...

One of my favorite things about summertime, is the county fair. It's so fun to see everything through Sayer's eyes & the camera lens. This year Sayer was much more confident and a little more mellow- as if he was taking everything in to enjoy later. Last year he rode the same rides by himself- so it all was old hat.  As much as I adore the colors of the fair, my favorite photos from the day are in black & white.

But wait... I did catch some color with iphone. Have I told you how much I love instagram & phone apps? 

While it's September already, I'm still going to enjoy this last bit of summer. Sayer doesn't go back to pre-school until next week & the weather is beautiful right now. We have a few more family adventures ahead & I'm holding on to summer tight...

{Photo Inspiration} Robert Doisneau...

I just noticed the Google Doodle tonight & it caused me to spend some time looking through a lot of Robert Doisneau photographs. I learned about his legendary contribution to photojournalism in college (in a history of photography class) & had "the kiss" poster/print in my first dorm room. I've always enjoyed his photos & wanted to share. Happy 100th birthday Robert Doisneau! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

{Inspiration} The first day of spring...

In 1999, on the first day of spring, I married Chris in an old mansion on a hill. The mansion houses a quilt museum now & is considered one of the 10 most haunted places in Western Washington. Interesting... because all of our photos were taken in black & white film &  some have a very odd quality about them (I might have to do a post with the strangest photos- they're very Bela Lugosi like). We also had a vintage theme going so  it's sometimes hard to tell what year it was- which sort of adds to the mysterious quality. Last year on our anniversary, I started the task of going through boxes of negatives & photos, scanning some of them into the computer (because we were married before digital was common). You can see some more of those photos in my, First day of Spring -1999 post last year. I think I will go though & scan some every year on our anniversary-  it's really fun to cruise down memory lane. I also love noting some of the cool details in the photos- like textures, images, patterns, shapes. It's great for some nostalgic & artistic inspiration- like watching an old movie. That evening in 1999, we started our adventure as a married couple & 13 years later, I can only imagine what kind of adventures are on our horizon...but they're bound to be creative & involve a lot of laughing!
